Great question, and one that is often overlooked. Having the floors sanded and polished at the correct time in your renovation is important for so many reasons. Generally apart from the final coat of paint on the skirting boards, floors should be one of the last jobs on the list. However, when renovating kitchens, it is important to have the sanding and first coat applied prior to the cabinets being installed. A flat sealed floor is easier for the cabinet installer to work with, the kicks will sit flush on the floor, no marks on the kicks from the edger, and the floors are sealed under the benches, providing extra protection from future spills and leaks. The final 2 coats can be applied when all tradesmen have completed their work.
